Are We Getting the True Picture? Right/wrong

Have you noticed how all the T.V. shows are interconnected? The corporations that own and control our media have taken advantage of us all. When someone of celebrity writes a book he or she is invited on many Stations either to be interviewed or to speak about it. A Movie just out, don't we see it touted on many channels? I thought about it one day and found that the "Book" published by Time-Warner is touted on each of the stations and other media it owns. The interlocking relationships are now easy to see. We are but a captive audience trapped in the dungeons of the "media" who bombard us with senseless adds some of which are so poorly done it's pathetic.

Our children are taught inane things that fill up time and when they come out to earn a living they are ill prepared. Yes, yes, I know  it is  good  for the mind and  develops the  person. Why not teach  the  children  what  life really is all about? It's about working and making a living to support yourself and eventually your wife and children. Teach them History but the real History. What is the real History? The struggle of men for wealth and power. One does not have power without wealth and that is what its all about. The word "freedom" is not an idealistic adjective. It is spoken with many different meanings depending on who you are. To the poor and downtrodden it means being able to make enough to feed, cloth and house your family. To the intellectual it means the right to express your thoughts and opinions without fear of retaliation. That's a good one isn't it? Retaliation is always there for the powerful as a tool. Even in what we think we are a "free society" just speak ill of the powerful and get their attention. Do it and suffer the consequences of retaliation. Speak ill of your boss then try to get a raise. Speak ill of a politician then come to him or her for a favor---you will be spoken to politely but don't hold your breath waiting for the favor. Why not teach our children that our forefathers were 1) Men of great wealth and influence both here and in England the mother country.
        2) English men were living in a relatively free society in England. The King did not have absolute power. He ruled with Parliament's consent. He could do little without the OK of Parliament. Poor King George so vilified unjustly.
       3) Our founding fathers geniuses, though they be ,were afflicted with what is common to all men "greed" Did they not use slaves to work their land? Did they not get wealthy on the labor of those slaves? Did they not exclude people of color from that great instrument our Declaration of Independence?
     4) What it was all about is simply this. Parliament needed the money to pay for the wars and expansion they sought. What did they do? Same thing we do right here in America today. TAX and raise the existing TAXES. This meant that the colonists would have less profits than what they felt they were entitled to make.
    5) The use of words to justify actions is a common way of getting what you want. To stop the Taxes, to have complete economic control they went back to History, in particular to the period of the early GREEKS. Those who are familiar with the city states of Greece, their constitutions and form of government know that our founding fathers relied on their approach to what we call "Democracy" today. They patterned our present government after the Greeks. Read the "Federalist" and books and articles written at that time by our founding fathers.
    6) Freedom to them was to break away from England. The abuses they complained of as excuses to do so does not quite gel with the facts. Yes there were abuses by the English (Parliament) such as the Quartering of Soldiers in private homes. What is left out of this bit of history is that it was the custom even in England to do this and to pay for it. While it was unpleasant the English did put up with it. While it is a grievance it was not something out of the ordinary. Do we not have our "Patriot Act" right now? Have we not surrendered our freedoms and privacy for the greater good? Are we not adopting some of the ways of those we fought against in WWII, the Germans?
    7) Children should be taught at an early age the facts of life. Freedom means the right to make money. Making lots of it gives you power. People pander to you for your vote but don't count on them too much. The way we are now is not good. President Eisenhower saw it coming by referring to it as the military industrial complex and seeing it as evil and a danger to us.Special Interests now control our government and in order to keep control there is an erosion of the average man or woman's freedom. Women by the way, until recent times were second class citizens. They still are fighting for "freedom" What it all boils down to is "money" With economic equality women make more money and gain more power and therefore have more "Freedom" (there goes that word again.)
    8) History has to be taught with truth and reality and not words and phrases that are empty but used to appeal the masses to gain power and control. We must look to ourselves and ask Who is the government we live under now? Is it the people by their representatives? Is it by the large Corporations? The special interests (Drug companies) have bragged how they did all the writing for the medicare bill dealing with drugs and not a single word changed by "Congress" There was no one there strong enough to fight for the "common man" who elected most of these men and women. Is it a good thing for our country and way of life to be controlled by large powerful corporations (and thus a few men and women who determine the course of our country)or not? Perhaps not all is bad. Perhaps those in power do listen to the voices of the little man upon whom they ultimately depend. You see it is the little person who buys their products whether it be insurance, drugs, auto's etc. They want and need your money and you and I need them for jobs etc etc. It is a circle of dependency but sometimes the wheel goes out of balance. By being realistic we might be able to better solve the dilemma. If not we are in danger of losing our" Freedom"
